An alternative method for previewing your website

For cPanel hosting customers who are moving their site to Tsohost we provide a temporary URL to access the domain prior to changing the nameservers. However, if you are installing a complex CMS, this may be troublesome as the CMS will still try to redirect you back to your primary domain.

In order to get around this, you can edit the hosts file on your PC to bypass the DNS lookup and access the site on our servers through your main domain rather than the preview URL. This only affects your PC and visitors to your website will see the site as normal.

Windows PC c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Mac OSX /private/etc/hosts

Linux /etc/hosts.

Just open it up in your favourite text editor (e.g. Notepad) and add a line:

188.65.113.1 www.yourdomain.com yourdomain.com

Replace 188.65.113.1 with the IP address of your site, as displayed in your control panel and replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name.

Once you have made the change, save the file then restart your PC and browse to your website as normal. You will see it served from our systems and will be able to test the full functionality of your CMS. To view the site on your existing host, just remove the line from your hosts file.
